Sign language rates

When you need a sign language interpreter, look no further than IU. Our interpreters are independent contractors who hold credentials from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and various state or federal agencies depending on the specialization. They’re experienced, qualified and are able to work in multiple situations and remain professional, no matter the circumstance.

Rates for American Sign Language appointments start with a two -hour minimum. Appointments that exceed the hourly minimum are billed in half hour increments.

Sign Language FAQ

American Sign Language (ASL) has a different structure, grammar and syntax than that of English. In addition, there are multiple “dialects” of ASL, which may incorporate variances such as cued speech, finger-spelling, iconicity (a “sign”) and geographic lexicons. In other words, our trained interpreters effectively “speak” with a Deaf or Hard of Hearing individual on many levels, assuring that communication is complete, accurate and culturally sensitive.

When Do I Need a Sign Language Interpreter?

According to the American Disabilities Act, an American Sign Language interpreter must be provided by a business or organization for people who are Deaf or Hard-Hearing in order to adequately communicate, providing equal access to services and institutions for all.
