Japanese Interpreters
With Japanese interpretation services in high demand, businesses need a company they can trust. Language barriers that result in miscommunication creates confusion between English speakers and those with limited English proficiency. Professionally trained Japanese interpreters guarantee accurate communication and compliance with privacy laws. At Interpreters Unlimited, we only contract professionally trained and qualified linguists for every appointment.
Our contracted Japanese interpreters have years of experience interpreting in a number of environments for medical appointments, client interviews, depositions, parent/teacher conferences, employee orientations, religious functions and more.

Japanese Cultural Expertise
Translation and interpretation is more than just transposing words into the correct language. For true and reliable communication, Japanese linguists are familiar in the linguistic intricacies of both English and Japanese. In addition, they are cultural experts that can parse subtext and connotation depending on cultural and environmental contexts.

Japanese Dialects
All of IU’s contracted interpreters are native Japanese speakers and are fluent in both Japanese and English. Understanding the vocabulary, speech patterns, industry jargon and culture of two languages are what differentiate a professional interpreter from someone who is only bilingual.
Within one language, there are different variations of speech. Unlike other Asian languages, Japanese is not a tonal language. And although Japan is the only country in the world where Japanese is the first spoken language, there are many different dialects. These dialects or pronunciation differences are regional and cultural and include:
Hakata This dialect is spoken in the city of Fukuoka and the surrounding areas. |
Osaka-ben This dialect is primarily spoken in the Kansai region of Japan. |
Hiroshima-ben One of the most common Japanese dialects, and often unfortunately associated with organized crime, this dialect is actually rooted locally in the political history and culture of the region. |
Kyoto Ben This dialect is known for its softness and its historical connection with royalty, as well as the Geisha culture |
Nagoya Ben This is a mixture of eastern and western Japanese dialects and is spoken in and Nagoya City. |
Sendai Ben This dialect is spoken in the Tohoku region of Japan. |
Hokkaido Ben This dialect is spoken on the island of Hokkaido which is inhabited by people from the Tohoku and Hokuriku areas. |
