Interpreters Unlimited Selected To Work With California Department of Industrial Relations To Improve Communication
SAN DIEGO, CALIF., June 22, 2016– In an effort to streamline efficiency, the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) sought out companies for a document translation initiative. The Department selected Interpreters Unlimited, a San Diego-based foreign language services and transportation company, for a translating services contract which goes into effect July 1 through June 30, 2018.
With this contract, Interpreters Unlimited will work with the DIR to improve the health, safety, understanding, and well-being of California’s residents with limited English proficiency. Government documents will be translated from English to a variety of foreign languages which include, but are not limited to, Chinese, Hmong, Korean, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish (Mexican), Spanish (Standard), Tagalog and Vietnamese.

In order to compete for this contract, companies had to submit a request for proposal, six references, and show proof of providing qualified translators for each language requested by the DIR. This process was open to private companies, non-profit organizations and government entities.
