DeafNation Expo and Conference 2019. Riverside, CA.

Texas-based media company DeafNation takes pride in their mission of “language, culture and pride”. They strongly embody this mission in their annual touring trade show, which has attracted a total of 1 million attendees since 2003. American Sign Language (ASL) takes center stage at this event. The DeafNation Expo and Conference provides Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing communities a platform to showcase their talents, network and develop their professional skills, with an agenda of events that ranges from education to entertainment. The 2019 expo that IU attended in Riverside, California (a short drive from Los Angeles) featured special guests such as Deaf actor and comedian Harold Foxx, entertainer Deaf Nena Mime and Hula Bella, a Deaf hula hoop dancer.
