ALC Unconference 2019. Huntington Beach, CA.

The Association of Language Companies’ mission is to support the growth of language service companies, interpreters, translators and the language industry as a whole. They aim to increase the visibility of these companies and often collaborate with language advocacy and lobbying groups in the US. It’s not a conference, it’s an UnConference. ALC’s annual “Unconference” provides a more unstructured educational space for the discussion of vital issues such as worker classification and state regulation. This year’s Unconference, taking place in Huntington Beach, California (a short drive from Los Angeles, CA), featured several leading figures in the language services and advocacy space. This unique take on a traditional conference structure facilitated a more casual environment, with smaller breakout sessions that enabled every attendee to actively learn and participate.
